1. Why are you a singer/songwriter?

I cannot imagine life without music. I have always loved singing and telling stories, and it became an outlet for me when I needed some way to express myself.

2.  What is your musical background? Do you have a musical family or did you just fall into songwriting all on your own?

No one in my family is musical. I wrote my first song at the age of 10. I'm not really sure what drove me to write that first song.

3. What sorts of things have you done to improve your songwriting?

I listen to a lot of music. I listen to songwriters that inspire me. I try to be more aware of phrases, words and thoughts that hit me and write them down so I have them in one place.

4. Have you written any songs in the last 12 months? What are you working on now and where do you feel your music is headed? The last song I wrote was in 2011. Sadly, I did not write any in 2012. I promised myself I would write more this year.

5. And finally, what advice would you give anyone looking to follow a similar path to yours? Keep writing and performing. And living. It's life experiences that help create songs.
