Q&A

1. Why are you a singer/songwriter?

When I write songs I connect with my spirit, soul and body and release what I discover.  Songwriting liberates me as it allows me to take inventory of my life and then express it through music.

2.  What is your musical background? Do you have a musical family or did you just fall into songwriting all on your own?

I strummed my friend's 12 string, Yamaha guitar and was immediately hooked.  I'm a self taught musician who enjoys playing guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and of course . . . the kazoo!

3. What sorts of things have you done to improve your songwriting?

I study the song structure of pop hits and I listen to feedback from my listeners.  I also try to write songs using different instruments which allows for finding different rhythms and melodies.

4. Have you written any songs in the last 12 months? What are you working on now and where do you feel your music is headed?

I write many songs each month.  I refine my newest songs while performing in SL.  I seem to play them differently each time until I find the right sound, rhythm, and texture.

My goal is to continue to self produce more albums and to continue collaborating with musicians.  I want to create music with no other intention than to allow the song to breathe.

5. And finally, what advice would you give anyone looking to follow a similar path to yours?

Listen to the song that your journey has already sang for you.  Interpret your life's song and share it passionately.
